Privacy policy

This policy explains what the Dhanio Android app and this website store, where it is kept, and who can see it.

Your finances stay on your phone

The loans, SIPs, lumpsums, subscriptions and payments you add are stored in the app on your phone. They are not sent to Dhanio or to any server. Dhanio does not connect to your bank and does not read your SMS.

Your Dhanio account (your name, email and a protected form of your password) is also stored on your phone. It is used to sign in to the app on that phone.

Backups to Google Drive (optional)

If you turn on backups, Dhanio saves an encrypted file to a Dhanio Backups folder in your own Google Drive. The file is encrypted on your phone with a recovery password that only you know, before it is uploaded. Dhanio cannot read your backups, and neither the password nor the encryption key is stored in readable form.

Dhanio asks Google only for access to the files it creates itself. It cannot see your other Drive files.

Shared trips (optional)

Shared trips and friends need a shared-trips account, which uses your Dhanio email. If you create one, these are stored with our hosting provider, Supabase:

• Your email address and sign-in details
• Your name, username and profile picture
• Trips you share or join: name, destination, dates, budget, group size and the people on them
• Invitations and friend requests. Invitation codes are stored only in a scrambled form that cannot be turned back into the code.

People on a trip can see that trip and who is on it. Your friends can see your name, username and picture. Nobody else can see any of this. A trip admin can never change your name, picture or account.

Trips you keep to yourself stay on your phone.

Maps and location

Trip maps are provided by Mapbox. To show a map or search for a place, the app sends Mapbox the area you are looking at and what you search for. Mapbox may also collect usage data under its own privacy policy.

Dhanio asks for your location only when you use My location on a map. It is used to show where you are on the map and is not saved.

Reminders

Payment reminders are created on your phone from the dates you saved. Nothing is sent anywhere to do this.

This website

This website does not use cookies, analytics or advertising. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, keeps standard server logs, such as IP addresses and the pages requested. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts.

Deleting your data

• Data on your phone is deleted when you uninstall the app.
• Dhanio keeps your latest 5 backups and removes older ones. You can delete any of them from the Dhanio Backups folder in your Google Drive.
• You can leave any shared trip in the app. To delete your shared-trips account and profile, contact us at the address below.

Children

Dhanio is not meant for children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
